It happened up in the space!

Ranbir Kapoor planned a special birthday surprise for his ‘Rockstar‘ co-star Nargis Fakhri up in the air when the duo was flying to Nagpur for the support of their movie.

Ranbir, Nargis, singer Mohit Chauhan and producer Hiren Gandhi were on board the charter flight when Ranbir brought out a cake for his heroine on October 21.

The actor had pre-ordered a Ferrero Rocher chocolate cake from one of Mumbai’s finest bakeries and quietly got it onto the flight without Nargis’s knowledge, said a source.

While Nargis was sitting on her seat unaware, one of her staff members took her outside the cabin on some cause. When she got back, the entire team yelled “Surprise“, and presented the cake to her.

The team sang “Happy Birthday” for her, while an overwhelmed and touching Nargis cut the cake.

Nargis Fakhri, who turned 32, fed the cake to Ranbir and others.

All of them partied on board the flight listening to ‘Rockstar‘ songs. The movie, directed by Imtiaz Ali, is shaped by Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd and Eros International. It will release Nov 11.

Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor had a tough time in Lucknow on Friday (October 22) after he abruptly walked out of an event to endorse ‘Rockstar‘.

The organizers chased him down to the Luck now airport, where he was detained by them for nearly two hours before he could finally leave the city.

It was film director Imtiaz Ali who managed to pacify the organizers, the public as well as the media, with whom a press conference was abandoned.

The organizers blamed Ranbir for not honoring an Rs.10 lakh contract for performing at the Phoenix Mall here.

He was also scheduled to address a press conference, but director Imtiaz Ali said: “We had neither signed any contract nor taken money; how could we accuse when we were on a promotional trip for the movie?”

Even the mall direction blamed the local event management company for the disaster.

“The event managers misinform everyone, including us, that they had entered into a strict contract for a show by Ranbir Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri and that it would be followed by a media interaction,” said Phoenix Mall manager Anuj Shukla.

Ranbir finally left Luck now around 8 pm for New Delhi, from where he was scheduled to move on to Chandigarh for an event there on Saturday. Earlier in the day, he went approximately parts of old Luck now and feasted on the city’s famous Tunday kababs and Net Ram’s ‘rabri‘ in the busy Aminabad market…
